CPS is a Response to Intervention Site for the South Carolina Department of Education. Schools throughout the state visit CPS to observe classroom instruction based on the Reader's Workshop model, converse with our teachers, and share best practices.
Teachers use small group instruction to teach explicit reading strategies. We also have reading interventionists that work with small groups teaching reading strategies throughout the day.
We work closely with a literacy specialist from the state department to provide the teachers with resources and share instruction to promote successful readers.
